Creating Meaningful Global Connections

I have read an article where U.S. middle-school students became video pen pals with their Pakistani counterparts, acquiring real-world communication skills, enhanced cultural perspective, and an awareness of their leadership skills.

It was a great experience that the school has conducted. I think this collaboration has made the students grow personally, widen their thinking and made them appreciate what they have. Also, students created meaningful connections with other students from different culture, which helped them to grow their understanding of the world. Students through this experience have developed empathy. Students in the USA were able to build up their knowledge about sensitive issues such as terrorism. Plus, students developed the skills of how to phrase questions and elicit responses. The Video exchange experience provided different learning styles that students were excited to try such as recording and script writing. Students were able to talk about their culture, interest and who their role models were. This helped in developing their personalities and identities. In addition, global collaboration gave students new audience for their ideas and opinions which is quite validating for young people.

I have created this video on a previous course in my master’s degrees which reflect why WhatsApp is a great social media tool to be used in a learning environment and its benefits.

This video demonstrates what first-year students should expect from their journey in the architectural world and how architecture is not only about designing it's about creating stories, music, and inspiration. This video will help people or learners who don’t have a background in architecture to have a better understanding of its concept. The learners who are studying architecture will find this video interesting and engaging. Plus, the ones who have experience in architecture will see this video as a true story.

This video is by Liz Ogbu from TEDx talk that really inspired me. As an architect-engineer doing master’s degree in instructional technology, I always get asked; why you shifted your career. Honestly, after watching this video, I couldn't have said it any better. So, if you want to know why I shifted my career and what I am hoping my architecture background will reflect and add to my education career. Watch the video!
