Blogging is about adding value to your reader's life

Blogging is a new tool used to share information and reflect thoughts. The purpose of writing a blog is to promote, spread awareness and share information that the author of the blog is passionate about. A blog is a platform that allows people to share thoughts and experience with the public. It also allows for comments and discussions. A blog helps the participants to interact and engage in the activities by commenting or uploading pictures, videos or recording. I am choosing blog over anything else because a blog is considered a new instructional technology method to interact with learners. I will create a blog that is class centered where everyone will be able to comment and share their thoughts and ideas. My goal of creating a blog is for all my coworkers and learners to share their thoughts on my post and also they can comment on each other reflections which will lead to a collaborative environment. I will use the blog as a method of formative and summative assessment. Formative assessment will be the discussions learners contribute in. Summative assessment will be posted on the blog with the rubrics to guide learners. Before starting the blogging or social media project implementation I will have a mandatory professional development session about privacy, copyright, and security to establish safe learning environment. As I will be the author of the blog, I can remove any member if they are not in my class, I also can delete any comments that I find inappropriate to the context or offended. I will create a blog for each group or each class that I teach. Learners are allowed to follow other blogs and participant in them. They also can share their ideas with rest of the class about the other blogs they are following. My intended audiences are first year architecture students.

The objectives of using blog are to engage learners in a more collaborative online learning environment. Also, such environment will motivate them than a traditional class. Learners must contribute to the blog, they must share posts they liked or found interesting regarding the topic discussed and curriculum context. In addition, they must share their thoughts on their classmate's post. The outcome of using a blog is for learners to have new ideas and explore more contexts. In planning how to teach a certain curriculum I will put in mind the end result that I want my learners to achieve, which is enjoying the blend learning environment with no obstacles, build up confidence and share unlimited information. I will make sure that my blog covers and matches the curriculum. So, there will be in person class then discussions and research on the blog. I will make sure that the posts on the blog are about the relevant context, curriculum, and content. In addition, I will make sure all posts are relative to guide students through the context. As an author of the blog, I have the right to delete any post that I feel is inappropriate to the content of the blog. At the beginning of the curriculum, I will have guidelines videos and presentation for the rules that must be followed during the blogging. Learners will be assessed based on their contribution, collaboration, and objective feedback. Plus, I will post the rubric of each assignment to give student clear headlines of what is expected from them. I will try to avoid routines and provide a variety of activities. To evaluate the effectiveness of the blog in the classroom I will conduct a survey to analysis students experience to improve my next implementation.

Learners will be able to share and express their thoughts on the posts their classmate and I share. They will be able to share pictures and videos they find relative to the topic discussion. I want learners to use blogs to engage with their classmate and share their thought and experience. I want learners to express themselves without being shy, having such concept in the classroom will help learners to improve their creativity skill and increase their self-confidence. I am expecting learners to exchange information about the context and curriculum. Learners should not require any assistance going through the blog as it’s similar to Facebook and Twitter which most of the students use. However, there are a lot of tutorial videos available if needed.

I am using Wix dashboard as it has a section for creating a blog. Wix is very easy to use and there are a lot of tutorial videos within the Wix that are going to help me in creating the blog. I will spend a couple of hours every day to monitor learners engagement and perspectives. Comments will be mandatory for all students, they have to share minimum of one comment per post and they have to be involved in all the activities that go on through the blog.
