What:
I designed and developed a game that illustrates and fosters learning about diversity, multicultural, and global collaboration. The game contains strategies and resources to increase student's awareness of cultural diversity. As students go through the game, they will be engaged in culture diversity concepts where they will need to make choices to move forward with the game; when they select the biased answer, they will get a piece of advice that explain why their choice is prejudice so they can relate to other views. All the rules, materials, and instructions are included. In addition to the game, I reflected on what students are expected to learn from the game and what aspects of diversity students will get the chance to discover.
So What:
The aim of creating the game is to increase student's perception and knowledge of cultural diversity. Diversity is about respecting the differences that we have. We don't need to be the same to grow and respect each other. Differences are what gives us an edge to know and learn more. Diversity is a strength; we don't need to have the same cultural background to identify harmful actions such as cutting trees or war, or population, or many other concepts that humans tend to ignore its impact on human society's growth.
Now What:
Culture is one aspect that affects student progress in the learning environment. Teaching students to respect the diversity of culture, religion, and political views help build a strong generation that doesn't allow corruption and racism. In what we see in the world these days, it's essential to introduce different cultures in the learning environment so students will be aware of the traditions on the other side of the world.
