3c. Coach teachers in and model use of online and blended learning, digital content, and collaborative learning networks to support and extend student learning as well as expand opportunities and choices for online professional development for teachers and administrators.
What:
I created an online blog where I shared reflections and articles on social media's impact on the learning environment. Through the blog, I posted some cases of how social media tools have helped communication, collaboration, management, and policies to achieve the best practice of both teaching and learning. My aim was that the blog would be a resource to teachers about elaborating specific social media tools in the learning contexts. The posts included reasons for using WhatsApp as a tool not only as a way of communication but also for learning.
So What:
Creating a blog promotes blended learning, digital content, and online learning networks. Having a blog that posts strategies for using technology in the learning environment is what all teachers need to keep up with all the new technologies coming out every day. A blended learning environment is a new approach that most students target when they want to pursue their higher education; as life gets busy with family and work, the blended learning environment is the only approach that makes it more convenient for students. Learning must not be limited to a classroom wall. Blogs generally keep people update with new technologies. As the digital world changes are moving so fast, blogs can help educators keep up with the new invention of technology.
Now What:
I would love to grow my blog's audience to have teachers internationally involved and engaged in the blog so that teachers locally can benefit from their experience. Social media shorten the distance and allow the participant to communicate in faster ways. Having an online digital blended community where educators can write about their experience and findings regarding technology is the aim that I hope my blog can achieve.
